anthropology of language survival, performance, and aging

I am a doctoral candidate in Anthropology and Education at Columbia University in the City of New York. I study Linguistic and Sociocultural Anthropology with a focus on ethnic minorities of China. As an Indigenous person who never had the chance to learn my mother tongue, I write, teach, and sketch with a sense of care and responsibility to trace losses and vitalities that resonate with my own heritage.

My years of fieldwork in Inner Mongolia and Tibet have led me to become fluent in Traditional Mongolian and Tibetan (in addition to English, Mandarin Chinese, and French). During my time in the field, I also took up the accordion and sketching, as companions in solitude and as methods of deep hanging out. Beyond academia, I spent much of my life as a professional snowboarder and remain deeply passionate about the great outdoors. I am based in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
